Which shots to get my 22 year old?
There is what they call a 5-way it has Tet, Influenza, Rino, EEE and WEE all in one shot it runs about $20 or so in my area.II have a 20 year old too and my vet have never said anything about her being immune to influenza or rino. I have several horses and not had one react to West Nile but it is a must in my area. If he is going to be stabled with young horses that travel to shows and what not you might want to consider Strangles. I had a mare react to the injection form to this vaccination but now my vet shoots it up their nose I don't know if that makes a difference but I haven't given it to the one who reacted. My vet say the don't need if they are older and don't travel. Oh and rabies might be a good idea. If his coggins is older than one year he will need a new one if your barn didn't tell you that already. Just remember it is your horse and if you feel he needs something just tell your vet you want it to be on the safe side. I would ask people in your barn for recommendation on a new vet if you don't trust her. Congratulations on owning your first horse.
