Is it possible to switch from the Army Reserves to Active Duty?

I am PFC in the U.S. Army Reserves. I enlisted 10 Feb 2009. I have completed BCT and have been attending drills with my unit since Feb 2009. I am scheduled to attend AIT for my 88M in May of 2010. Is it possible for me to switch to Active Duty prior or after AIT? Detailed answers only, please. I had a bad experience with recruiters originally. I am looking for experienced input before going to meet with one.
