How to know if he's still interested after the first impression?

Have a guy friend I re-met during Thanksgiving break, We had known each other previously for a short time, but fell out of touch. He asked for my number again the second time and we had been talking /text every since, however without hanging out.I think once he got a feel for me, he wanted to hang out over xmas break, and tried to make time to hang out despite family obligations. We manage to squeeze in a sliver of time together but it was very short and brief. Because of that im not sure how to really read the experience or wat to expect from this point on. Should he be calling more or less? Be more eager to hang out? Although short, i did read good signs like laughing, smiling, and hugging, but im still confused. Adult opinions appreciated. thanks.
