How often does cyclones occur in the Middle East?

i lived there for 12 yrs and never saw anything like that there. there are sandstorms when its very dusty and windy and there is rain but nothing very much it looks dramatic as the roads are not built to cope with sudden downpour so get flooded quick but thats about it. the last 2 yrs i was there there wa s no rain and my kids were very excited to see rain when we came back to uk as they had never seen it before
